From the desk of Jean Schulz
Dear Friend,
I love Sonoma County for its natural places — the rugged coastline, ancient oaks and redwoods, the golden hillsides, the fertile farmland …This place we call home is truly spectacular. And it needs our protection more than ever. We have a wonderful opportunity now to work with the Sonoma Land Trust to protect some of our special places.
For 25 years, I have supported the Sonoma Land Trust and have personally observed the vital role it plays in protecting the open and wild lands that define our county. That is why I have pledged a $2 million matching gift to the Land Trust’s $18 million campaign: Redwoods to the Bay, Saving Sonoma County’s Signature Landscapes.I will match your gift, dollar for dollar, up to $2 million.
This is not a gift I make lightly. I am frankly worried about the ongoing development pressures on our lands and about our need to preserve large open spaces, like the Jenner Headlands. I want our grandchildren and their children to be able to enjoy the same stunning vistas that you and I treasure today.
Together with the Sonoma Land Trust, we can help determine what Sonoma County will look like in 10, 25 or 100 years. We can choose to keep our landscapes intact, enjoy miles of new trails, save endangered wildlife, and protect our creeks and rivers.
I am excited about this opportunity and urge you to make a generous gift today so that I may match your contribution. Let’s give our children open space in which to dream about their futures.
Sincerely,

—Jean Schulz
